It’s time to start engaging with your downline




When you start your home-based network marketing business, you quickly ensure that your downline will make or break your business. Don’t expect an affiliate to stay in this business for long unless they have a mentor helping them every step of the way in the first few months. That’s efficient when you have to be there for them. Would-be “opt-ins” are becoming much more skeptical these days, as the internet is rife with network marketing scams. YOU have to stand out from the crowd. Here are three ways to make this possible.

Seasoned Network Marketers will tell you that once they’ve been “taught the ropes,” most of their time is now focused on helping new affiliates succeed. You see, this business is all about building relationships with your team members. There are several ways to do this. First, to build trust with your prospects, have them sign up for your own weekly newsletter. Over time, this will portray you as a trusted online presence, so that when they finally decide to jump in and start their own business, you may be the person they choose to mentor.

Second, don’t underestimate the power of a phone call when prospecting. Just because this is an online business does not mean that all business is done online. You have to learn how to talk on the phone in terms of how you express yourself and the opportunity that you are providing. You may also receive phone calls from prospects, so be prepared to be able to answer your questions periodically. In any sales pitch in any business, the key is how you listen, not how you talk. Throw a few questions at your prospect to engage them in the conversation. If he is interested and if you direct the questions correctly, he will actually sell himself on the opportunity.

DO NOT just continually talk to him about this fantastic opportunity, financial freedom, global income, etc. You need to sell yourself in the context that you will now be a part of his business life forever, and will do everything you can to help him achieve financial freedom. This sends home a much more powerful message than the next person who calls you and is just looking for money to sign up for an opportunity.

So now you’re getting a lot of inquiries because of the two things mentioned above: (1) You have a reliable online presence and (2) You’re making phone calls to specific prospects. What is the third and most important aspect? (3) Be there when they need you. Now that you’re getting people signing up for your opportunity, you need to be able to substantiate your claims.

Now you must be the mentor of these affiliates. In the first few months, try to do as much as you can for them. Just help them out by helping them sponsor their first affiliates. Teach them everything you know about the business and how, from your experience, they can turn a profit quickly. By doing this, you are doubling yourself and you are speeding towards success. It is to your great advantage if you educate your downline to the best of your ability. I repeat, it is impossible to do this unless you start to fully commit to your downline.
