Why depending on customers is dangerous

What are you selling?

A product or service?

If it’s a service, you might want to be careful. Especially if you depend on a few clients for a living.

Let me tell you a story…

There is a copywriter I know who charges high fees.

You have a retention model with some clients. They pay him monthly and he writes them a sales letter whenever they want.

But a few months ago, he found himself in a little trouble. Because he lost two of his three big clients in the same month. It really was a huge drop in revenue and something he never saw coming.

Anyway, after a bit of panic, I told him to calm down and there it was definitely a solution to all this…

So I told him to start selling. Product Information.

Information products are absolutely fantastic to sell. I mean, it literally costs nothing to put them together (just a little bit of your time), but you can sell them for whatever price you want.

Regardless, if this copywriter started selling info products himself, then there would be less pressure on him to get new copywriting clients.

But did you listen?

Do not.

I mean, he said he would. But she didn’t. And he hasn’t replaced those two clients since.

Fool fool.

So the lesson for you is this:

If you offer a service, no matter what it is, you should be aware that you could lose a LOT of your income overnight.

So I strongly recommend that you start selling information products as well.

At the very least, it will give you a bit of backup income.

But it could easily turn out to be your hand Support of the family.

And once you’ve built your product, it hardly takes any time to run it. Unlike a service.

Pretty cool, right?
