What is a STAT medical delivery?

There are many companies that work in Chicago courier service that offer medical delivery services as part of their total service package. Medical courier companies are an important part of the overall healthcare industry. These are specially licensed couriers who have the proper vehicles and training to transport medical supplies. Typically, these types of deliveries are made according to normal hours, similar to how the rest of the courier industry works. However, there is also another type of medical courier service, which is known as STAT shipping.

STAT is also often referred to as an emergency messaging service. However, more often than not, the term emergency courier service is used to describe these types of deliveries when they are made in the business or corporate world. A STAT release means the same thing, but also specifies that the release in question is one that involves the medical industry.

STAT is a term often used in hospitals to indicate that something needs to be done as quickly as possible. Many medical terms are derived from Latin roots, and STAT is no different. The original word on which the term is based is “statim”. This means immediately in the original Latin. Anything that is required for STAT is given the highest possible priority, and the same thinking applies to STAT delivery services that move medical supplies.

Generally, a STAT delivery is one that is required quickly because the treatment depends on the delivery being completed quickly. This would be in situations such as when you need to send an organ to give it to a transplant patient. Additionally, the STAT service is sometimes used to move medical supplies to disaster or emergency sites when on-site treatment is required.

The STAT service can be completed by land or air transportation. In many cases air transport will be used because it is much faster than making deliveries by land. Typically, the air vehicle to be used in medical deliveries is the helicopter. Helicopters can take off with less advance notice than airplanes and are not required to land and take off from major airports. Many large hospitals include on-site landing facilities so cargo can be delivered and patients airlifted. Ground transportation will still be used in some situations, such as when an urgent delivery only needs to be made between two hospitals in the same city. The option used will always be the one that results in faster deliveries.
