To get a taste of South of the Border, I put together this Southwest themed party. This theme could work for a Southwest wedding, birthday party, or corporate event.
Colors:
sunkissed Orange,
Mimosa,

Food and Decoration:
Tex-Mex cuisine (also serve less spicy food for those who prefer it mild)-
French fries and salsa served in a sombrero bowl.
Traditional wedding or birthday cake adorned with brightly colored flowers-
Special shaped cake (i.e. hat or adobe house)-
Southwestern theme (ie cactus, donkey, chili) iced sugar cookies-
South of the Border or Chili Pepper plates, napkins, glasses, tablecloths-
Straws for hats –
Margarita glasses –
Party Napkins –

Paper flowers for parties.
Centerpieces and other table decorations:
Small cacti in terracotta pots (tie a raffia bow around the pot to give it some color)-
Chiles scattered around the table (in the same way that confetti or rose petals are scattered)-

Jointed Cacti or Large Live Cactus Plants-
Sarapes on the tablecloths-
Handkerchief in the center of each centerpiece table top or for placemats or cloth napkins.
For a cute and easy napkin ring, tie a raffia bow around each napkin and add several small chilies.
Piñatas are great centerpieces.

Country Band – Mexican Dancers –
Mariachi Band – Pumpkin Maracas
Favors/souvenirs:
For the guests, if they are outdoors, hand fans (printed with the names of the bride and groom) –
colored tin candles
Other:
Piñata in the form of a wedding cake or hot chili. Piñatas are a good activity to keep the kids busy or just for fun.
