Acer, one of the world’s largest and most successful technology companies, today announced the name and specifications of its first new smartphone, the Acer Liquid. The Acer Liquid is a smartphone that will run on Google’s Android 1.6 operating system, nicknamed ‘Donut’.

One of the most spectacular features of the Acer Liquid is its powerful Snapdragon chipset which will make the phone run at a speed of 1GhZ. The even more impressive feature is the 800 x 480 WVGA display that the Acer Liquid will come with. This is a first for any mobile phone, and while more established cell phone makers such as HTC were expected to bring this kind of innovation, it was once again the innovative and business-minded Taiwanese company that struck first. .

You may remember that several years ago, Acer released the Mini EePC that completely destroyed the competition and created a whole new market. Acer’s combination of affordability, technological prowess and coupled with its market focus is really a combination that companies are beginning to fear.

This time, with Acer’s Liquid Android phone, Apple and its successful iPhone lineup should be the ones to watch. The Liquid, aside from its powerful chipset and knockout screen, also has a few other tricks up its sleeve. The Acer Liquid camera will have ISO levels, as well as the excellent ability to record geographic positions in images in the form of tags. This will be done via Acer Liquid’s GPRS system and will no doubt be loved by photo enthusiasts who can’t get enough of Flickr. Speaking of which, the Acer phone will allow you to integrate your contact list with your social media profiles like Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and all the other social networks you belong to as well.

Acer Android Liquid will also allow its user to make the most of its spinlets app which allows users to stream videos and music for free. Perhaps this powerful phone will also allow the thousands of Android developers to be a bit more creative and create some more impressive games for the Acer Liquid and its powerful hardware specs.

Acer hasn’t set a release date for this gorgeous phone yet, but it will most likely be out sometime in 2010. The price might be a cause for concern, given all the technological wonders packed into this phone, but it’s pretty safe to buy. Saying that it won’t break the bank because Acer is a company that always manages to keep its prices respectable. Consider the Mini EEPC if you’re convinced.

That concludes this first preview, be sure to keep an eye out for more Acer Liquid news and reviews as we get them.
