CTM (cleansing, toning and moisturizing) – 3 easy steps to get rid of acne!

It is the simplest and most effective form of acne treatment. Its secret is its simplicity and regularity of use. Some people think that expensive topical and internal dermatological medications can help clear up the signs of acne for good. However, the best way to beat acne is to stick to the basics. The three-step system of cleansing, toning and moisturizing is a safe way to keep your face clean and acne free.

1. Cleaning

A clean face is always a great way to start your process. Some people believe that washing your face five times a day will help get rid of acne, but the opposite is true. Your skin relies on the oil it naturally produces to moisturize the skin’s surface. Excessive cleansing can lead to dry skin, making it more prone to acne. First, you must cleanse your face of makeup by removing all traces of makeup. Some people like to use cold cream; however, if you are prone to acne, it would be better to use a damp towel. It is also recommended to use cold cream if it is non-comedogenic or does not clog pores. Use a gentle facial cleanser. You can get a specially formulated cleanser from your dermatologist because commercial cleansers are often too harsh for your skin. Do a deep cleansing of your face and neck. Use a clean towel and gently pat your face dry instead of wiping it.

2. Toning

Astringents are generally not recommended for acne sufferers. They can be a bit harsh and can worsen already inflamed lesions on the face. You can even increase the chances of scarring if you use astringents on broken skin. However, the astringent can also be good for reducing oil or sebum on the face. There are astringents that are made especially for acne-prone skin and can be purchased without a prescription. However, it is advisable to use a toner specially formulated by your dermatologist and to use it sparingly. Use only on areas where the skin is not broken and only on affected areas.

3. Moisturizing

Special moisturizers are usually made for acne sufferers. They can relieve the skin of the pustules and cysts that often break out on the surface of the face. They can prevent the dryness and uncomfortable tightness that accompanies acne. Moisturizers can be mixed with topical ointments and used to prevent skin from drying out and flaking. Moisturizing lotion lessens the harshness that often comes with topical treatments. Moisturizers can be made by adding benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, tretinoin, and sulfur. Benzoyl peroxide and sulfur have an antibacterial effect. Tetracyclines, which are antibiotics, can reduce the number of bacteria in the follicles. Keratolytic preparations are good for loosening dead skin cells on the face, reducing the risk of acne. However, they can have a drying effect and can cause pain on the skin. That is the reason why keratolytic preparations are rarely mixed with moisturizers. After moisturizing, rest well in anticipation of clearer skin the next day.
