What do you expect from Apple in your next generation iPad?

As we prepare for the next generation of Apple iPads, a recent survey was conducted to find out exactly what current users thought Apple could do better than the first model.

We have now clearly established that the iPad will never be a replacement for your PC or laptop. It’s not a Kindle, a Kindle is an excellent e-book reader and there have been comments in the past that the iPad is likely to make you dizzy if you use it as an e-book reader and read from it for an extended period of time.

What do you want really?

1. Connect directly to the 3G Network. In the US, iPad connects to Verizon Network MiFi 2200 access points. This feeling of the people will make the next generation of iPad very attractive.

2. Front camera. This was the second thing I missed, for Skype, conferences; this is a must these days.

3. Capture still images and record videos. This is an important feature for many users and something that Apple’s competition is adding to.

4. Improved Retina display. This is a great feature of the iPhone 4, with this improvement, the iPad would provide a better e-book reading experience and be more comfortable on the eyes in general.

5. Connect to Verizon’s new 4G LTE network. As mentioned, connecting directly to the 3G network is a must, but connecting directly to the new 4G would be innovative in itself.

6. Big screen. But rumor has it that Apple is bringing out a 7″ screen and ACER is unveiling a 10.1″ tablet, with some heavy finishing on the winds, it will be interesting to see which way Apple goes.

7. A slimmer, squarer design. This would be an obvious second step, after the release of the iPhone 4.

8. USB connectivity. This is something that is also a must, personally I wish I could just plug and play a USB stick and this is where I find my current iPad on the shelf because of it.

9. Better compatibility with printers. Limited printer accessibility is a problem for most, but it’s something I haven’t needed.

10. More storage, to compete in this market and starting generation 2 iPads with 32GB and going up to 126GB would be a huge improvement and very attractive.

There are also rumors that the iPhone 5 will be released in the coming months, so keep an eye out for fiercer competition in 2011 in the tech world, especially in this market.
