Putting New Tires on Your Fisher Price Power Wheels Vehicle

Changing the tires on a Power Wheels vehicle is quite common. To find the right fit for your vehicle, use your diagram to find the wheel number.

Once you know what you’re looking for, it’s relatively easy to purchase them at any Power Wheels dealer and then install them yourself. Always take care to make sure the wheels are the correct fit for the vehicle you own.

Many people just don’t like the tires that come with most Power Wheels toys. The primary environment in which the vehicle will be used should determine what type of wheels to purchase. Obviously, if the vehicle is going to be used primarily on a grassy or sandy spot, having a coarse toothed drive pattern would be very helpful.

If you want to upgrade your tires by putting larger tires on your vehicle, follow these instructions. To change tires, raise the vehicle so that it is suspended so that the wheels can spin freely. Use a ratchet to loosen the bolt holding the wheels. Take a wrench and separate the Power Wheels tires from the wheel base. Place the edge of the pry tool between the rubber trim and the wheel in the middle of the base and carefully pry it out. Repeat for all tires/wheels on the vehicle.

Position the old wheelbase with the outer side facing away from the wheel and resting in the middle of the body of the new, larger wheels. Take an electric welder and place the edge of the welder at the connection point where the edge of the old wheelbase meets the body of the new wheelbase. Weld around both wheels. Repeat for each wheel.

Place the new attached wheel on the drive wheels (inner side towards the drive wheels). Tighten the clamp bolt on each wheel. You are now ready to use your Power Wheels vehicle.

Most vehicles include single-use cap nuts that hold the tires on the axles. These are easily removable and bend upon removal and cannot be replaced. Therefore, when you buy new tires, you should also buy a cap nut for each tire. There is also a cap nut tool that makes it much easier to apply the cap nut to the axle.

It is important to get the right size for your vehicle.
