Pro-choice and doing the right thing

We all have options … every day and throughout our lives. Most of the options are simple, like what shoes to wear or what to eat for lunch. However, some choices have far-reaching consequences that can affect our lives and those of others indefinitely.

One of the most important choices in our recent history and culture is what a woman decides when she becomes pregnant, whether voluntarily or not. With the changes in the legal and political system in the last 30 to 40 years, it has become quite easy to make the decision to destroy an unborn child. Note that I did not refer to “abortion” or the “woman’s right to choose”, but rather I call this choice what it is without the cloak of political correctness … “destroying an unborn child.”

Forget about the law or political correctness for the moment. Before Roe v. Wade, a woman, decided to find ways to destroy her unborn children anyway. Therefore, let me clarify that the only effect of these legal changes was to make this choice more acceptable and available.

So what does choice have to do with anything? Well, it is my humble opinion that the choice has a lot to do with the question of the fate of an unborn child. No law regarding basketball in favor of the right to decide, in favor of life or professional level (sorry, I could not resist) can change people’s hearts. That must come from a higher source … one much higher than you, me, or the government.

So who is affected by this choice other than the obvious one? Most of us think only of the mother and the unfortunate fetus. But what about the father, grandparents, and other family members who have no other choice in this regard? Oh! Yes, we have been conditioned to believe that women have the right to do with their bodies what they please. The only problem (again, political correctness aside) is that there is a completely new person who depends on the mother to make the right decision that allows her a chance to move on with her life.

The only thing we can do to protect the unborn children of this world is to try to change hearts and minds regarding the true gravity and tragedy that goes beyond political correctness and / or ridiculous selfish arguments. I have rights, you have rights and for the love of God our pets have rights … but the unborn baby has NONE!

This is not a personal judgment on any woman who has ended an innocent life. I’m sure many of you regret it, and for those of you who don’t have any regrets, I can only pray that your hearts will soften over time. I know that our Lord forgives if we only ask.

The choice to remove an unborn baby from this world is now and has always been a moral issue for our culture and society, as well as for each of us individually. However, you don’t even have to believe in God to see the need to respect and protect innocent life … if we want to be successful as a civilized world.

I have options … You have options. I choose to support, protect and nurture innocent human life before and after birth. Could you join me?
