It’s almost time for the All-Star Game, which is a good time to review the predictions I made at the beginning of the season. It’s also a good time to make some mid-season adjustments. Let’s take a look at how I finished the NL East:
1 Nationals
2 brave
3 Phillies
4 plates
5 billfish
I’m doing pretty well with these predictions. Although the Braves are ahead of the Nationals right now, I think the Nationals will win the division in the end.
1 Nationals – The Nationals struggled early on, but appear to be back in shape. I still think they will win the division.
2 Braves: The Braves are doing well even though only half of the Upton brothers are performing as expected. I don’t think they’ll keep up the pace they’re at, but I do think they’ll give the Pirates a run for their money.
3 Phillies – The Phillies are hovering around .500 right now and that’s probably how they end up.
4 Mets – The Mets are actually doing better than I expected. They can even challenge the Phillies for 3rd. Matt Harvey has been a pleasant surprise for them.
5 Marlins – No surprises here. The Marlins were destroyed in the offseason and their record reflects that.
The Nats aren’t the best team in baseball right now, but the top 3 teams are competitive.
I’m going to stick with my original prediction for the NL East.
1 Nationals
2 brave
3 Phillies
4 plates
5 billfish
The Nationals are going to finish strong and the Braves are going to fade a bit. I still think the Braves will miss the playoffs, but it will all come down to the last two games.
