The Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S Advance: a look at display technology and processing power

Samsung seems ready to launch a new model to take on the shoes of its popular Galaxy S2 phone, a phone that will soon celebrate its first birthday. The new Samsung Galaxy S3 will become the new flagship of the brand’s impressive range of devices. We take a look at the rumored specs of this new model and also another new device in the line, the Galaxy S Advance.

There are suggestions that the new Samsung Galaxy S3 will incorporate a larger screen than its predecessor. Rumors suggest that we will see a 4.6 or 4.7-inch screen built into this model. In terms of resolution, the model is expected to offer an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. If this resolution and screen size are correct, the model will be able to display a very impressive pixel density of 319 pixels per inch. The model will once again use incredibly durable Gorilla Glass. A new version of this material has recently been presented that offers the same protection attributes but from a much thinner panel. If Samsung goes for this new version, we may also see a rather dramatic reduction in the overall depth of the phone. The Galaxy S Advance is a more basic model than the Galaxy S3, but it still manages to deliver great image quality from the 4-inch Super AMOLED screen it uses. The model can display a resolution of 800 x 480, which means that the phone displays an impressive 233PPI pixel density. Like the Galaxy S3, the phone uses Gorilla Glass to help keep the screen in great shape, although this model uses the first generation of this material, which means that the phone is a bit deeper.

When the Samsung Galaxy S3 launches, the model is expected to be the fastest phone available thanks to the impressive chipset that it will likely incorporate. The model is expected to be Samsung’s first quad-core smartphone and the processor speed is most likely to be between 1.5Ghz and 1.8Ghz. This type of specification will put the model far ahead of any rival phone, although as time goes on we can expect other manufacturers to release models with a similar specification. The Galaxy S Advance is basically an updated Galaxy S and the biggest difference between the two models is that the Advance packs an impressive dual-core processor. This 1Ghz chip provides excellent operating speeds that compare favorably with most other mid-range devices. The phones use an ARM Cortex A9 processor along with a graphics processing unit capable of providing an excellent gaming experience.

The two models we’ve discussed should help ensure that Samsung has another great year. The Samsung Galaxy S3 seems to become the best smartphone available, while the Galaxy S Advance will appeal to consumers who do not want to pay a premium price for a high-end model.
