Striped bass and blue catfish are the most abundant sport fish in the lake in recent years. Fishing for largemouth bass is improving due to increased vegetation from year to year. Standing timber is the most abundant structure and cover on this lake, and Hydrilla is found only in certain places.
Striped bass is most active during the fall, winter, and spring months due to the cooler weather. Lake fish are active much longer during daylight hours and are typically found in shallow water in the early morning and late afternoon. Crappie anglers use live jigs and minnows around the deck. For the catfish, use cut bait, worms, and chicken livers. Use jigs and heavy slabs when fish are deep.
